Our approach to education is to start a conversation. We do so by engaging and involving, and appealing to a person’s sense of wonder.
LCROSS Mission: “Got Water?”
The two-year Got Water? campaign reached national and international media. David Letterman and Leno included the story in their opening monologues. Facebook and Twitter followers were in the tens of thousands. Young people and general public participated in hands-on and virtual educational activities around the country. The mission was one of the most widely followed missions in NASA’s history. In the history of the Web, it was the 5th most watched live internet event ever.
Robotics Alliance Project
Robots are a great way to inspire students to learn about math, science, and technology! The Robotics Alliance supports three national robotics competitions and provides a clearinghouse of robotics-related educational materials.
Smart Skies
Smart Skies™ features an interactive Air Traffic Control Simulator that enables students to apply proportional reasoning to make decisions and resolve conflicts in realistic air traffic control problems involving two or more planes.
International Space University
The International Space University is a private non-profit institution, formally recognized as an institute of higher education in France. It specializes in providing graduate-level training to the future leaders of the emerging global space community at its Central Campus in Strasbourg, France, and at locations around the world. In 2009, NASA Ames hosted the Space Studies Program for over 100 students.
Ames Exploration Encounter
The NASA Ames Exploration Encounter is a unique educational program designed to inspire positive attitudes about science, technology, engineering and math for all students in the 4th through 6th grade. Located in a renovated 6’x6′ supersonic wind tunnel building, the Exploration Encounter makes math and science curriculum come alive.
